calendar Posted on July 20th, 2010 04:55:47 PM

Dumpster rental services across the US has always been Beach Cans' goal. Help customers find a dumpster company easily in as few steps as possible and help dumpster companies in the process.

To rent a dumpster from Phoenix to Atlanta to Oakland visit our local pages and instantly find a few dumpster rental companies to compare pricing with.

Heres what's new around here:

We decided to alter our look a little. We're not going full face lift, more nip/tuck adjustments. We have removed the somewhat "street font" look of some of our pages to make them easier on the eye, as well as optimized both our quote forms and our partner page for quicker price comparison and information gathering.

These changes probably interest us more than you but I wanted to hear myself type.

Look for some more changes in the upcoming months. Until then, you stay classy...planet Earth.

Beach Cans has been to some trashy parties in our day, some of which we were actually invited to. But this latest story has to be the cake taker for American ingenuity meeting its insatiable desire to throw scantily clad parties in odd places.

We all know that dumpsters in Long Island have often been a sanctuary for all types of animals. Meet the newest species- the New York party animal. Dumpsters are now being used as pools in what is being coined a a "lo-fi urban country club" in a hidden areas of New York  with the help of artist Nina Katchadourian.

These dumpster pool parties are found in areas that are rented out for "Invite Only," which means Beach Cans will inevitable show up unannounced with a speedo on. Don't worry, we fashioned the Speedo from an array of old colored rubber bands we had lying around the office. We'll fit in- pun intended.

Beware of Dumpster Fluff (No, Not Our Blog)

calendar Posted on March 24th, 2010 10:05:59 AM

"Fluff," although having a name that induces less fear than say.. watching a kitten yawn, can be a dangerous material. Hazardous waste, when sent to the wrong place, can have terrible effects on the environment and people alike

The term "fluff" is a name used for the leftovers of the automobile scraps that are put through shredding machines. These leftovers contain bits of glass, fiber, rubber, engine fluids, dirt and plastics.

The great concern about recycling fluff, especially in the Los Angeles, CA area is the habit of sending it to city landfills. The dumping of fluff,  according to the shredding companies, is not detrimental to health or safety.

The Toxic Waste department had other notions, stating that, "We're seeing increased amounts of lead, zinc and cadmium in the waste stream, so we think it's no longer appropriate to allow [these companies] to operate."

There are regulations for many dumpsters in Los Angeles, but many of the shredding companies find a way around. We could be in for a long struggle on this topic and unfortunately Beach Cans customers in LA could be the ones to suffer.

::Off Topic:: Famous Fluff Throughout History:

  1. Name of Tiger Wood's former caddy and maybe one of his girlfriends.
  2. Chemical make-up of the Ghostbuster's arch rival: The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
  3. Lesser known, slightly less magical dragon brother of Puff.
  4. The irritating material that accumulates in your belly button on a nearly daily basis.

Dumpster Roll-Off Size Tips

calendar Posted on March 24th, 2010 09:11:45 AM

When renting a dumpster for the first time it may be difficult to figure out what size you'll need. You may be asking yourself, is a 20 yard dumpster is too small? or what is equivalent to a 30 yard dumpster? If you are deciding to rent a dumpster for the first time here are some helpful hints in helping you figure out what size container is best for you:

(Refer to pick-up trucks and washer machines for visual examples)

  • 20 Yard Dumpster Container 8' W x 14' L x 5' H

This is equivalent to 10 pick-up truck loads or 20 washer machines

  • 25 Yard Dumpster Container 8' W x 15' L x 6' H

This is equivalent to 12 1/2 pick-up truck loads or 25 washer machines

  • 30 Yard Dumpster Container 8' W x 22' L x 5' H

This is equivalent to 15 pick-up truck loads or 20 washer machines

* Just note that these sizes refer to the larger roll-off containers. They are mainly used to haul items or an abundance of items that usually weigh in tons. (1 ton=2,000 pds)
