Lovely Party, Pity We Weren't Invited...

Beach Cans has been to some trashy parties in our day, some of which we were actually invited to. But this latest story has to be the cake taker for American ingenuity meeting its insatiable desire to throw scantily clad parties in odd places.

We all know that dumpsters in Long Island have often been a sanctuary for all types of animals. Meet the newest species- the New York party animal. Dumpsters are now being used as pools in what is being coined a a "lo-fi urban country club" in a hidden areas of New York  with the help of artist Nina Katchadourian.

These dumpster pool parties are found in areas that are rented out for "Invite Only," which means Beach Cans will inevitable show up unannounced with a speedo on. Don't worry, we fashioned the Speedo from an array of old colored rubber bands we had lying around the office. We'll fit in- pun intended.

Dumpster diving. Not an Olympic event that China will be dominating any time soon, but it has become a popular hobby / lifestyle.

Seattle dumpsters are quite the hot spot for this "Going Green" trend and continue to provide brave dumpstranauts with a multitude of items to brag about. One man's trash is another man's treasure indeed. This dumpster diver speaks about his Seattle adventures.

New York Designer Finds Fashion in Dumpsters

Beach Cans has seen many different styles that associate with trashy, but this one tops it all. Say goodbye to conservative business slacks and blouses. The dumpster look has hit the runway scene.

New York dumpsters are apparently the next great source for fashionable apparel at affordable prices. In a scene that looks like something right out of Zoolander's "Derelict" campaign, Gary Harvey has created a line of humorous yet pretty stylish clothing from dumpster bound items pictured left.

We know all too well the amount of usable waste that a dumpster can house. Dumpster divers across the world have been utilizing waste containers for years for more than just clothing. We have to say, however, that this may the most mainstream appearance of the art since Elaine went digging through New York container in search of a bear claw with her soon to be super hero/slightly financially challenged ex-boyfriend.

Kudos Gary to a job well done.
